The clients came to us with the desire to create a cozy apartment for their visits to Moscow. The apartment is located on Tverskaya Street, in the famous Narcomles Building. At first, the plan was to stylize the interior in the spirit of Stalinist Empire and Soviet avant-garde, in keeping with the aesthetics of the building — but these ideas didn’t resonate with the client.
Eventually, we aligned with the clients on the concept of a bohemian interior with a delicate integration of European antiques. However, Soviet avant-garde still found its place in the sun: for instance, genuine armchairs from the 1960s were restored and reupholstered in a unique fabric developed specifically for the project, based on sketches created in 1924 by the artist Varvara Stepanova.
The main accent in the interior is the client’s favorite shade of blue, subtly “flowing” from the walls onto artwork, textiles, and furniture pieces.
